January 6th – 10th , 2020 Newsletter

Happy New Year!  Welcome back CCS families, teachers, and staff!  We are very excited to begin a new year with the anticipation of all the wonderful things the Lord has in store for us! During the month of January, Mrs. Irene’s 1st Grade class will be sharing about “The Helmet of Salvation” in Chapel.  We have 3 more “pieces” of the Armor of God we will be learning about through the remainder of the school year, with the “Helmet of Salvation” being one of them.

2019 Festival of Giving

The 8th annual Magic Valley Festival of Giving was a huge success!  Once again, CCS was one of the 29 participating local nonprofits who participated in this magical event!  The event raised a little over $250,000.00 for the participants, while also donating over 2,000 pounds of food to five local food pantries/shelters and donating three barrels of toys to Santa’s Cause. CCS was very fortunate to receive $9,665.00 from the event.  This would not have been possible without the hard work and support of the following individuals and businesses;  Holly & Eck Senivongs, Cameron Guillory, Julianna & Jordan Jarvis (River Bend Dairy), Erica & Russell Ciocca (Stitch X), Kathy Hornbacher, Joanna Stevenson, and all of you who attended and participated in the event!  We “thank you” for your generous donations and continued support of Canyonside Christian School!

 Teddy Bear Week

Next week is “Teddy Bear Week” for our Preschool (K3 – K4) classes!  Teachers have planned several fun “Teddy Bear” activities for the week, including a Teddy Bear picnic on Thursday.  Your preschool student will not need to bring a lunch on this day as they will be having a special “Teddy Bear” lunch provided by Tomato’s. If your child does not wish to buy a lunch, they can bring a lunch from home 🙂

CCS Auction Meeting

Save the date for our CCS Annual Auction, which will be held on March 6, 2020 at the Jerome County Fair Grounds!  This is CCS’s BIGGEST and MOST important fundraiser of the entire year! It requires months of preparation and several volunteers to make this event possible. We will be having an auction committee meeting on January 23rd at 5:30 p.m. in the Library.  This meeting is open to anyone interested in being a part of the auction planning.
