Mrs. irene staffen

1st Grade Teacher

My name is Irene Staffen and this is my first year teaching 1st Grade at CCS.  My professional experience includes being a Homeschool teacher for the past 11 years and being involved in Children’s Ministry since High School. I have also worked at CCS for 6 years as the EXCEL director.

My teaching philosophy is “Believing” in children!  Teaching is so important to me .  I believe children make a difference and they need “to feel like” they make a difference. Learning is more than writing and arithmetic. It is about growing and changing.  It is about character and learning who we are and who we should be.  I look forward to teaching, because as I continue to learn and grow, I want others to explore with me.  I want to share my excitement for learning with my students!

I am married to a wonderful man named Lucas, and we have three terrific children!  David who is 16, Marcus who is 14, and Rebecca who is 11.  My hobbies include reading, sewing, and camping.  I also love to share about the love of Jesus!

God has been a work in my life for many years…. When I was in the sixth grade, I went to bed one night crying.  I knew Jesus loved everyone, but I just didn’t feel like he loved me.  I woke in the middle of the night and felt like God’s arms were wrapped around me.  Since then, I have seen and felt God in many places and ways!

My favorite “Life” Bible verse is; “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”  Psalm 37:4

My favorite quote is: “No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.”  Eleanor Roosevelt
