Welcome back CCS Students and Families,
We have had a terrific start to the new school year this week! It has been a wonderful experience meeting and seeing families returning to school with smiles and excitement for the new school day and the year to come. I am looking forward to meeting each and every one of you if we haven’t had a chance to meet already. We feel honored as a CCS staff that you have chosen to bring your children to school here.
Just a friendly reminder, school begins at 8:15 a.m. each day. Children arriving before 8:10 a.m. will be asked to check into the before-school program (There is no charge for students who arrive at the before-school program any time after 8:00 a.m.). We are asking for your help in sending your child down to this program. This time gives teachers an opportunity to meet with parents and to prepare for the school day ahead. Some parents have asked if they can drop off and pick up their children through the school side doors, and we are asking that you use the front main doors as your drop off and pick up area. This is mainly for safety reasons.
Become A part of Something Amazing…PTF
Are you wanting to be involved in your child’s education but feel like your time is very limited and you have no idea how you can contribute? Look no further. We are PTF (Parent Teacher Fellowship). Our mission is to support, serve, and encourage the Christian educational needs of our students and staff. We are planning to only have 4 meeting during the year and want to offer this group to all Canyonside families. Our 1st meeting will be Thursday, September 5th at 5:00pm in the CCS library. EXCEL will be available (free of charge) for that hour for all participants in the PTF meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting but you are interested in participating, please contact Sarah Sorensen via email (email@example.com). We are excited for an AMAZING year. Our theme for the year is “NO ONE can do EVERYTHING, but EVERYONE can do SOMETHING.”
- Don’t forget next Monday, September 2nd is Labor Day! We will not have school or EXCEL on this day.
- The school day ends at 3:00 p.m. Children will remain with their teacher until parents arrive to pick them up. Children will not be permitted to walk across the parking lot without a parent. This is for the safety of your child. If your child has not been picked up by 3:10 p.m., he/she will be signed into the EXCEL (Afterschool Program).
- Chapel will normally be held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month and Pastor Will Ritter from the Renew coffee shop in Jerome will be speaking with our students on these mornings. “Opening” will take place on the 1st and 3rd Mondays beginning at 8:30 a.m.. Mrs. Hinojos and CCS teachers will be leading the “Opening” activity for the day and Mrs. Ashlee Scott will be leading the music for Opening and Chapel.
- Our Jog-a-thon kick off assembly will be Monday, September 9th, at 8:30 a.m. in the Multipurpose room. This is an AMAZING fundraising event that all students love participating in…look for more information to be coming home next week!
CCS uses the “Remind App” to communicate with CCS families concerning important news and reminders we want you to know about. We also use “Remind” to alert you on school closures due to inclement weather. ALL new CCS families will be sent a “Remind” invite via your cellphone. You must accept the invite to be enrolled in the “Remind” System at CCS! If you enrolled in the “Remind” system last year, you are currently still enrolled for this school year. For more questions, please call the school office at 208-324-3444.
